“Pahal- Nayi Soch Ki Nayi Shuruwat” celebrated its first birthday on 16th January, 2016 marked by its first event PODIUM held at SRCC. Pahal – Nayi Soch Ki Nayi Shuruwat is DU’s independent student run digital magazine. Starting off with the promotion of literary works, Pahal now stands as a youth magazine.

The zeal at the event was unbeatable especially with the introduction of Dr. Sambit Patra, the spokesperson of BJP. His interactive session about leadership, divine strength and beauty of politics, triggered the minds of the audience with an insightful thought about why youth participation in politics is not prominent.

The next session with Mr. Abhigyan Prakash, Senior journalist from NDTV, gave a new perception of media and its functioning. His polite answers to the questions put up by the audience defined his proficient attitude towards his profession. Thereafter, PODIUM saw the first ever ‘Presidents Talk’ in the University of Delhi, where the Presidents of all the north campus colleges came together for a panel discussion on various problems faced by students. They talked about the various initiatives taken by them and their plans for next combined initiatives for betterment of north campus colleges. Apart from the intellectually stimulating discussion, Mr. Vijay Prakash Sharma, the famous playback singer, well recognised for his songs ‘Teri Yaad’ and ‘Taj Firun’, also set the stage on fire with his mind blowing performance.

The session concluded with the last event called ‘Battle of Bands’. Five bands from the Delhi University performed to compete for a prize money worth Rs. 15000. The phenomenal performance by the band ‘High Time’ from Kirori Mal College, was declared the best performance by Tuheen Chakravorty, the Indian Ocean percussionist.

Q. My girlfriend and I do it regularly but she has not been able to orgasm yet. What can we do to make her orgasm? Is there something wrong either of us?

A. My steamed little pattu, your question is not uncommon. In fact, it is one of the most pressing problems for almost all idlis who like to get down and dirty.

In Amma’s experience a majority of vadas can’t orgasm without some added spice! So no, it does not mean that something is wrong with either of you. Instead, your lady might be a stressed or feeling a bit anxious (or perhaps ticked off?). Even if this is not the case, getting dirtier and spicier with your dosa making might help your cause. Make sure she is aroused, tease her and make her want you more, try to be kinkier, perhaps using a blindfold and hand ties might accentuate her feelings.

Most vadas can’t climax just by simply doing the deed, they need more and they need variety. So little idli, jazz up your dosa making and don’t be afraid to be a little imaginative, put your freak on from time to time.

Be sure to make your lady happy in your bed, and she will reward you with her own secret moves too!

Mood Indigo, the annual cultural festival of IIT Bombay kicked off its 2015 edition on 18th December 2015. A four day festival themed ‘A Hawaiian Escapade’, it is once again out to reiterate its place as one of the best and most happening college festivals of India, if not Asia. It offers a plethora of events- competitive, horizons and informal- which would appeal to people with diverse interests. From Life-sized football and zorbing, to Pronites featuring the biggest stars, there’s something for everyone at Mood Indigo 2015.

The first day of the festival kicked off on the right note with eliminations for a lot of major competitive events including Mantra, a music competition and Beat The Streets, the street dance competition. Vogue- The Fashion Show was also held on Day 1.

Adding a dash of fun and humour to the entire setting were Fringe Fests, one of which included a comic act by Matteo Galbusera which had the audience in peals of laughter at his laugh-worthy performances using everyday objects like tennis racquets and balls.

Day 1 also saw luminaries like Ashwin Sanghvi and Markandey Katju descending on the IIT campus as a part of the Lit Fest. Ashwin Sanghvi’s session, where he talked about the inspiration for his debut novel ‘The Rozabal Line’ amongst many other things had the audience riveted as he brought out startling connections between various myths and historical facts, making up a new form of mystery. Sanghvi stressed on the importance of learning how to unlearn and relearn, calling it crucial to discovering his journey as an author. He also highlighted the struggles of getting his first book published, which led him to decide to self-publish it after 47 rejections. He said, “The easy bit is the writing, more difficult is getting published.”

If Ashwin Sanghvi’s session ended on an optimistic note, Katju’s session was far from it. The former Chairman of PCI and the former Chief Justice of the High Court of Delhi was in conversation with the Editor-in-Chief of the Mumbai Mirror about everything related to Indian politics and judiciary. Not one to shy away from making sweeping and often controversial remarks, Katju kept the practice alive by declaring that the pillars of the democracy had collapsed and that the State Institutions were hollow and an empty shell. He denounced Democracy as a defunct form of political system, especially in India, which runs on feudalism and communism. He went on to predict a revolution in India in the next 10 years, drawing parallels with the French Revolution. His remarks were mostly greeted by amused rounds of applause as the audience flitted between his booming oratorship and the rationale behind his remarks. The theme was democracy and politics which also ran strong in the Humour Fest.

The day wrapped up with ‘Nostalgia night’ where Shaan performed on the greatest hits of Kishore Kumar. The second day of Mood Indigo will witness more competitions followed  by  a performance by the Parikrama band and ‘fusion night’ with Lucky Ali.

What now, once the ordeal is over? Nothing planned? Well take some hints from us, and live a little after the torture of a month.

1. Work/Internship

While mostly applications have to be submitted well-in-advance, you may still be able to find work or pursue an internship after your exams. It is a great opportunity to learn something and add it to your CV, and even a better way to make contacts in the industry.

2. Join a course

There are enough online/offline courses in the market. Go and learn something that helps you in future or maybe just boosts your interest. It does not have to be academic only.

3. Go on a trip

While road trips are the quickest and easiest, even visiting your extended family is not a bad option. A trip or maybe just a change of atmosphere will refresh you, and even give you a new zeal for the term ahead.

4. Binge on TV/Movies/Books

It is the right time to visit or re-visit those characters and their journeys that you patiently waited for all this time. Start reading a new series, after having devoted time to your course for six months. Relax and have the time of your life.

5. Social Service

It is harmless to utilize your time by teaching or volunteering for an NGO. It may just give a purpose to your life. Or just go to an orphanage or old-age home, and spend some quality time with people you don’t know. It will not only make you feel better, but will bring a smile to somebody else’s face.

6. Research

No matter what year you are in, it is never too late or too early to look up the internet. Even if you are sure, what you want to do in life and what your career will be, search options and maybe probable routes to achieve your dreams. Gain some knowledge and be surprised, if not confused!

Finally, sleep. You deserve it.

Dhaba’, a north Indian Mughlai cuisine restaurant located in west Delhi. Close to major shopping and cinema complexes including Shoppers and waves, this restaurant attracts a whole bunch of visitors including videshis.

Ambience

This desi-themed, literally dhaba styled restaurant will take you onto a journey to suburban food eateries in India. As soon as you enter, you get the feel of the rural food eatery you once visited when on a trip to Punjab. Adding to that, the restaurant also features a truck! Yes, a truck inside the premises to grip you into the exact same rural-cultured theme, the designers of this restaurant have so strategically carved out. [caption id="attachment_36474" align="aligncenter" width="168"]Dhaba, Rajouri Garden The truck inside the premises of ‘Dhaba’ at Rajouri Garden.[/caption]

Delicacies

You must have already guessed the main delicacy of this place. Yes! The butter chicken we all so love. You can also try ‘chicken khurchan’, a special Mughlai delicacy they offer. For the vegetarians, the dal makhni is the dish to be ordered. But wait, what about the starters? Don’t miss out on the roasted and afghani chicken or the paneer tikka.

Pocket Bump

Well, to be honest, eating at this restaurant will not dig a hole in your pocket and the food costs are at same average 4 star restaurant level. If you do plan to visit the range of restaurants at Rajouri Garden, all of them come at the same average pricing of thousand bucks for two.

Rating

The place deserves 4 stars from me. ****   Brij Pahwa [email protected] Image credits: zomato.com, 361degreeshospitality.wordpress.com]]>

Students may come, students may go. But the university goes on forever. Over the period of time, the university has seen some of the most significant changes in the trends, infrastructure, technology and obviously students.

  • The modern student life is divided between study and part-time employment (internships). Increasing importance of co-curricular in universities has instrumentalized the whole study process and made the students distant from the institution itself.
  • Research projects used to be tiresome task of sitting all day in college library with piles of books in front of you. Now? College Wi-Fi plus Wikipedia. Work done.
  • Students have become so captivated by social media that they hangout less with friends. Back in time, college friends used to actually meet and hang out to keep touch. Now, they end up dropping a text or face-timing.
  • Earlier students used to doodle in the margin and desks while daydreaming as the lecture went on and on and on, and now? We goof off on stalking someone on instagram and clicking selfies.
  • Students have now become less emotionally stable and more stressed. There’s a notion that, the better the grades are, the better chance they have at finding a job. Although, wasn’t I assured that life would be easy after 12th board examinations?
  • We know that now college is a time where we see initiation of smoking and drinking habits in students. Social pressure in a totally new college environment is likely what leads most college students to it. Also negative peer pressure, wanting them to “fit in”, makes them do stuff.
  • Annual system used to cover more syllabus at a stretch and compel the students to remember all of it till the end of the year. Now with Semester system, academic schedule is very tight. Teachers are often in a hurry to complete the syllabus.
