“Pahal- Nayi Soch Ki Nayi Shuruwat” celebrated its first birthday on 16th January, 2016 marked by its first event PODIUM held at SRCC. Pahal – Nayi Soch Ki Nayi Shuruwat is DU’s independent student run digital magazine. Starting off with the promotion of literary works, Pahal now stands as a youth magazine.
The zeal at the event was unbeatable especially with the introduction of Dr. Sambit Patra, the spokesperson of BJP. His interactive session about leadership, divine strength and beauty of politics, triggered the minds of the audience with an insightful thought about why youth participation in politics is not prominent.
The next session with Mr. Abhigyan Prakash, Senior journalist from NDTV, gave a new perception of media and its functioning. His polite answers to the questions put up by the audience defined his proficient attitude towards his profession. Thereafter, PODIUM saw the first ever ‘Presidents Talk’ in the University of Delhi, where the Presidents of all the north campus colleges came together for a panel discussion on various problems faced by students. They talked about the various initiatives taken by them and their plans for next combined initiatives for betterment of north campus colleges. Apart from the intellectually stimulating discussion, Mr. Vijay Prakash Sharma, the famous playback singer, well recognised for his songs ‘Teri Yaad’ and ‘Taj Firun’, also set the stage on fire with his mind blowing performance.
The session concluded with the last event called ‘Battle of Bands’. Five bands from the Delhi University performed to compete for a prize money worth Rs. 15000. The phenomenal performance by the band ‘High Time’ from Kirori Mal College, was declared the best performance by Tuheen Chakravorty, the Indian Ocean percussionist.
The event was connected and brought by AIRCEL and Nescafe’, with Dr. Batra’s as the Health Partner.
