The Debating Society of Shivaji College successfully organised its Annual Shivaji Bhonsle English Conventional Debate 2018

Dictum, the debating society of Shivaji College successfully organised its Annual Shivaji Bhonsle English Conventional Debate 2018 on 15th September. This year, the National level event hosted 70 students from 30 Institutions across the country. The topic for the debate was ‘This House believes that Indian Democracy is moving towards majoritarianism’. There were vibrant arguments both in support and against the motion. The debate was judged by a panel of judges with expertise in Politics and Literature.
The results of the English Conventional Debate are as follows –
1. Best team- Ridam Aarah and Puranjay (Vivekananda Institute of Professional Studies)
2. Second best team- Tanu and Abhishek Sethi (GGDSD Chandigarh)
3. Best speaker (For)- Himanshu (Maharaja Agrasen College)
4. Best speaker (Against)- Anukriti Prakash (Ram Lal Anand College)
5. Best Interjector-
– Shreyasi Vats (Lady Sri Ram College)
– Gravit ( Ramanujaan College)
Dictum also successfully organized its annual Shivaji Bhonsle Hindi Parliamentary Debate, 2018 from 15-17th September. Over 34 different teams participated in the three daylong event. The final was held between teams from Hindu College and Indira Gandhi National Open University (IGNOU) with the team from Hindu College, Delhi University winning the tournament.
