What: It is a dialogue series on quality education for all initiated by the School School Choice Campaign (SCC) through which they will advocate policy reform ideas to improve quality and access to education especially for the poor. STUDENT FIRST! Dialogue Series on Quality Education for All is a monthly forum for debate by the nation’s foremost experts on national education policies and solutions to problems of quality in the education sector. PLATFORM PRESENTS THE SHORT FICTION COMPETITION
Writers of any sort or kind are invited to free style their way into this competition organized by Platform, an online magazine. The winning entries will be published in Platform’s Writers Issue 2010 that will be Guest Edited by Karthika V.K (Harper Collins India, Editor) and will feature the who’s who within the Indian literary world today! Additionally, the winning writers will be awarded an exclusive gift hamper from Platform magazine. The last date for submission is 10th April 2010 and the results will be declared in the next issue of the magazine.
All entries are to be mailed to [email protected] & [email protected] with subject title SHORT FICTION COMPETITION as Word Doc Attachments only.
All participants must be 18 years and above. Each participant is allowed a maximum of three entries with the maximum word limit being 1500 words. The articles have to be submitted along with a 150-word bio, picture and contact details (inclusive of Name, Age, Location, Occupation, Postal Address, Contact Number). Articles sent in should be original and previously unpublished works of fiction of any genre but must meet with the word limit mentioned above. Articles will remain copyrighted to the participant. Submissions who do not stick by the guidelines will not be accepted.

MOHAN RAKESH’S “LEHRON KE RAJ HANS”
When: 7th March, Thursday, 7 – 8:30 PM
Where: Sri Ram Centre, Safdar Hashmi Marg, Mandi house
What: Directed by renowned theatre personality Arvind Gaur, “Leheron Ke Raj Hans’ (The Swans of the Waves) is based on an ancient Buddhist tale of love, conflict, inner struggle and sacrifice. It is the one of the most noted plays of Mohan Rakesh, an account of the renunciation of the Buddha and its after affects on his family and loved ones and was first written as a short story, then later turned into a radio play which was broadcast under the title “Sundri” and underwent various other transformations over close to 20 years before acquiring its present form.

GARBAGE
When: March 4th, 1 PM to March 13th, 2 pm
Where: Bhikaji Cama Place
What: Garbage is a street play by the Asmita theatre group which is one of the leading Hindi theatre groups in the country and stands committed to aesthetically innovative and socially relevant theatre .The play focuses on the need for basic civic sense in our country and is a part of an initiative taken by -” Let’s Do It! Delhi ” which is a small group of residents who passionately believe that together we can make a difference and promote better civic sense among our society. They don’t believe in excuses like ‘everybody does it’ and ‘what difference can I alone make’, but instead that the action has to start from us only. If every individual does his or her own bit, he or she can definitely make a huge difference and lead to change, and thus, as socially responsible theatre actors, they are taking a step forward towards this goal through their play. Join them in this social initiative and be the change you want to see.
