Union Ministers Kiren Rijiju, Pralhad Joshi and Arjun Ram Meghwal took part in the “Swacchata hi Seva” Abhiyaan and visited various locations for a cleanliness drive on Thursday.
Education Minister Pralhad Joshi visited Gargi College, interacted with students, planted a sapling to endorse the “Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam” campaign, and swept the campus under the “Swachhata Hi Seva” programme.
Union Minister Kiren Rijiju visited Navyug School in New Delhi, whereas Minister of Law and Justice, Arjun Ram Meghwal, participated in the campaign at Safdarjung Tomb.A ‘Shramdaan’ drive was organised at the Safdarjung Tomb, in which two departments under the Ministry of Law and Justice took part, along with the Union Minister.
“It has been almost twelve years since the Swachh Bharat Mission was launched. Now, we are trying to further strengthen the campaign in a renewed manner,” Rijiju said. He also appreciated the students of the school, which comes under the NDMC, and said he was impressed by the awareness among students about cleanliness.
Union Minister G. Kishan Reddy said Prime Minister Narendra Modi had called upon people across the country to participate in the Swachh Bharat Abhiyan for nearly 30 days, from October 2, the birth anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi, to October 31, the birth anniversary of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel.
The Delhi BJP president and Union Minister Harsh Malhotra have organised cleanliness drives at around 2,500 locations across the national capital. Various Union Ministers and Ministers from the Delhi Legislative Assembly have come forward to take part in the cleanliness drive.
