Hrishita Lahon, a 22-year-old DU graduate from Guwahati, died on September 28 after a bus allegedly hit the bike taxi she was riding near Ashram Flyover. Police have registered a case but found no eyewitnesses so far.

Lahon, a resident of Guwahati, Assam, was an English literature graduate of Maitreyi College, DU. She was pursuing her master’s through IGNOU and was interning in Delhi at the time of the accident.
According to reports, she was riding pillion on a bike taxi from Lajpat Nagar towards Noida at around 10 am when a bus allegedly struck the motorcycle from behind. She was taken to a hospital in Sarita Vihar with critical injuries and died during treatment at around 2:05 pm.
The bike taxi was being ridden by Darab Singh, who was also injured. In a preliminary inquiry, Singh told police that a bus had hit the motorcycle from behind. He received treatment at a hospital but left before his statement could be formally recorded, and later travelled to Haryana for further treatment.
Police searched the area around the flyover and tried to identify eyewitnesses, but found no one who had seen the accident. The motorcycle is being examined as part of the investigation.
A case has been registered at Sunlight Colony police station under Sections 281 (rash driving), 106(1) (causing death by negligence) and 125(A) (act endangering life or personal safety of others) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita. Lahon’s postmortem was conducted at AIIMS, after which her body was handed over to her family. Police said further investigation is underway.
