Three LLB students of Law Centre-II of Delhi University (DU) have been suspended days after two students from Hindu College accused men in an SUV of stalking them.
Three LLB students of Law Centre-II of Delhi University (DU) have been suspended from the institute and are not allowed to step onto any campus of the university after the filing of an FIR against them for allegedly stalking and harassing two Hindu College students in Mukherjee Nagar on September 23, 2026. The accused mentioned in the university circulars are Naman, Abhinav Kumar, and Abhimanyu Kumar.
At around 9:30 p.m. on September 23, two students of Hindu College were allegedly stalked by a group of men in a white Tata Safari. As per the complaint, the gang members made some remarks to the girls, abused them after they protested, and started following them. The complainant added that when both she and her friend tried to record the incident, the persons in the car tried to drag them inside the car and then left the spot.
An FIR was registered at the Mukherjee Nagar Police Station under Sections 78, 79 and 3(5) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) against Naman, his friends and the driver of the SUV. Police recovered the SUV alleged to be used in the case.
Deputy Commissioner of Police (North West) Akanksha Yadav was quoted saying: “The individual driving the SUV has been identified as Naman, who is a student of Faculty of Law of Delhi University. We also came to know that two other students of DU were inside the vehicle.” Police had also mentioned that searches were being conducted for the arrest of the individuals.
Abhinav and Abhimanyu were arrested on September 25 whereas Naman was declared absconding. It was reported in the Indian Express that Abhinav was arrested from Laxmi Nagar and Abhimanyu from Gurugram. The police probe is also looking into the complaint filed by the girl about approaching many police stations before registering the FIR.
The latest in the series of developments took place on September 28, as the Office of the Proctor issued individual suspension notices to each of the three accused students. These notices indicate that the said students have been suspended from attending their classes with immediate effect under Clause 3(e) of Ordinance XV-B of the Delhi University Act, 1922. This clause treats any kind of conduct, whether verbal or otherwise, which is derogatory to women as a gross case of indiscipline. The accused students have been prohibited from entering any part of the University of Delhi for the time being.
This case has also come up in the midst of wider debates by the students regarding the safety of women in spaces surrounding the University.
