Shri Ram College of Commerce, commonly known as SRCC, was established in 1926 and is a prominent constituent college of the University of Delhi (DU). The college traces its roots to a trust founded in 1920 by industrialist-philanthropists including Sir Shri Ram, and its first incarnation was the “Commercial College,” which later became SRCC in 1951.

Accredited A++ by NAAC, Shri Ram College of Commerce (SRCC) has been the country’s premier institution for students pursuing higher education. Over its nearly century-long history, SRCC has developed a reputation as one of India’s leading institutions in commerce, economics, and business education.

SRCC Infrastructure and Campus Facilities:

SRCC occupies an urban campus in Maurice Nagar, North Campus, Delhi, spread over about 16.5 acres. The infrastructure is a blend of heritage and modern amenities: the college has ICT-enabled classrooms, seminar halls, an auditorium, and well-equipped computer and research labs. The library at SRCC holds a large collection of books, journals, and electronic resources to support academic and research work. It has a ‘Heritage Building’ status (main campus building).

For residential students, there are separate girls’ and boys’ hostels—the girls’ hostel was established in 1994, and the boys’ hostel has also been operational for many years. In addition, the campus offers sports and recreational facilities, including a gymnasium, a swimming pool, grounds for outdoor sports, and green lawns for student congregations. The college also hosts offices such as the Office of International Programmes and a Centre for Green Initiatives, reflecting a broader institutional focus beyond classroom teaching. 

Courses Offered at SRCC, Delhi University:

Academically, SRCC is centered on commerce, economics, and business disciplines. At the undergraduate level, it offers B.Com (Honours) and B.A. (Honours) Economics. On the postgraduate side, SRCC provides M.Com, M.A. Economics, and a Postgraduate Diploma in Global Business Operations (PGDGBO), which is a self-financed program launched in 1999 to strengthen the college’s interface with business and industry. Beyond these core courses, SRCC also supports a number of academic departments that include not only Commerce and Economics, but also departments such as Computer Science, Mathematics, English, Hindi, Political Science, Environmental Science, and Physical Education, supporting both domain courses and elective teaching. 

The fee for the full duration of UG courses (B.Com Hons or B.A. Hons Economics) is approximately ₹97,260 for the 3-year programme (equivalent to about ₹32,420 per year). For the PG programmes (M.Com or M.A Economics) fees are around ₹1,00,000 for the 2-year duration (i.e., ₹50,000 per year) The PG Diploma in Global Business Operations (PGDGBO) is more expensive, with a total fee around ₹3.2 lakhs for its two years (₹80,000 per semester) and hostel fee for students (approx ₹57,850 per year) applies. 

Scholarships and Financial Assistance at SRCC

Financial Assistance Schemes & Scholarships

  • Need-cum-merit scholarships: two scholarships of ₹ 12,000 each per annum for second year students of B.Com (Hons.) and B.A (Hons.) Economics under the SRCC Student’s Union scheme. Family income ceiling: ₹ 6,00,000 per annum.
  • The SRCC Alumni Association Scholarship: one scholarship of ₹ 12,000 per annum for a first-year student of B.Com (Hons.) or B.A (Hons.) Economics; continues into second and third year subject to maintaining at least 60% marks and income ceiling.
  • Scholarships for toppers: e.g., the Sultan Chand Trust Scholarship – two scholarships of ₹ 12,000 each per annum awarded to toppers of first and second year of B.Com (Hons.).
  • Earn-While-You-Learn scheme: For undergraduate students of B.A (Hons.) Economics and B.Com (Hons.), six students (two each from first, second and third year) may be selected under income criteria (family income not exceeding ₹ 6,00,000 per annum) and work minimum 12 hours/month on college initiatives; stipend up to ₹ 4,800/month (subject to hours) provided by the college.
  • Students’ Aid Fund & Fee Concession: The college maintains a Students Aid Fund to provide assistance towards tuition fees, cost of textbooks, hostel/mess expenses, clothing and medical costs for needy students. Forms are available from the college office (first week of August) each year.

  • Envision Scholarship (₹ 18,000/annum to a third-year B.Com (Hons.) topper)
  • M.C. Shukla Scholarship (two need-cum-merit scholarships ₹ 12,000 each per annum for B.Com (Hons.) II year students)
  • Kanwar Lal Memorial Scholarship (₹ 12,000/annum for a student of B.Com (Hons.) or B.A (Hons.) Economics who meets specified merit & need criteria), 
  • C.B. Gupta Memorial Scholarship, T.S. Grewal Scholarship, among others.

Extracurricular Activities & Student Life at SRCC:

On the student front, SRCC is home to more than fifty functional societies and clubs that allow students to explore interests beyond academics. Among the notable ones are The Economics Society, Finance and Investment Cell (FIC), Commerce Society, Debating Society, Dramatics Society, The Film & Photography Society, Quiz Society, Consulting & Research Centre, Fine Arts Society, English Literary Society, Hindi Sahitya Sabha, and more. The sports department too is well developed with both male and female participation across many disciplines.

Student life is also energized by large events: SRCC’s cultural fest Crossroads and its Business Conclave are signature events that draw participants from across India and include a mix of performances, competitions, guest lectures, and industry interactions. The college also supports units like the National Service Scheme (NSS), National Cadet Corps (NCC), Women’s Development Cell, and anti-ragging and grievance redressal cells, fostering holistic development and student welfare.

Admissions at SRCC (Delhi University)

Undergraduate Admissions (UG)

Admission to SRCC, Delhi University is based on CUET scores and governed by the Common Seat Allocation System (CSAS-UG).

Eligibility requires completion of Class XII (or equivalent) from a recognized board. CUET scores in language, domain subjects, and general tests determine seat allocation.

Applicants should check the DU Admission Portal regularly for updates and ensure subject alignment between Class XII and CUET. There is no age bar for undergraduate programs, and a gap year does not disqualify applicants.

Postgraduate Admissions (PG)

Admissions to PG programs are through CUET-PG, conducted by the National Testing Agency (NTA), followed by CSAS-PG counseling on the Delhi University portal. Seats are allotted based on CUET-PG rank, eligibility, and course preferences. Admission is confirmed after document verification and online fee payment.

SRCC’s placement and internship statistics reflect strong industry linkages and outcomes. In the 2024-25 placement season, over 520 placement offers were made, the highest package reached ₹36 lakh per annum, and the total value of offers stood at approximately ₹51.5 crore, marking a 19% increase over the previous year. More than 120 internship offers were made, with gross internship value around ₹57.2 lakh, and the highest monthly stipend reached ₹2.2 lakh. Top recruiters included global consulting and finance firms such as McKinsey & Company, Boston Consulting Group (BCG), Bain & Company, Blackstone, Nomura, Deutsche Bank, DE Shaw, Accenture Strategy, AB InBev, Kepler Cannon, and Meesho. Earlier placement seasons also reported highest packages of ₹35 lakh, with average packages in the range of ₹8.63 lakh per annum and median around ₹7.15 lakh for the 2023-24 batch.
