Udaan – A Flight of Dreams

A saga of passion, patience, and perseverance culminates, as Udaan- the flagship Entrepreneurship Summit of Entrepreneurship and Innovation Council, IIM Rohtak, comes to an exhilarating end. One of the biggest in the country, Udaan consisted of two power-packed round of panel discussions, featuring founders of start-ups like Outline India, Nearbuy.com, Career Launcher, and Miko to name a few. The event also hosted Ignitus, a Business-Plan competition wherein teams from around the country presented their innovative plans before an esteemed jury of investors and mentors. The winners were Team Arth from IIT Delhi and runners up are, Cortex Technologies from BITS Pilani and won prizes worth 2.1 Lakhs and a chance at incubation & seeding support. The big draw this year was the exciting mix of speakers and panelists that Udaan hosted.

As India is gearing up to an ambitious GDP goal of $5 trillion by 2024, the theme for this year’s summit was ‘Entrepreneurship as the key to unlocking the $5 Trillion Economy Dream’. In 2018-19, India’s nominal GDP was Rs 190 lakh crore; at $1 at 70, which translates to $2.7 trillion. To achieve this milestone, one of the strongest force-multipliers is our innovation engine and the start-up economy. A highly invigorating and insightful discussion followed, with full engagement from each panel member.

To further the theme, the panels discussed the following:
Panel 1 – From a million-dollar idea to a billion-dollar dream! – How to improve the success rate of the Indian Start-up ecosystem to achieve the 5Tn economy dream.
Panel 2 – Looking at successful entrepreneurial societies for ways to strengthen India’s entrepreneurial ecosystem
The event saw a congregation of 400+ students, faculties and entrepreneurial minds from colleges around the country at the awe-inspiring IIM Rohtak campus on 17th January 2020. The students and attendees had got a golden opportunity as they interacted with industry stalwarts and celebrated the innovative and entrepreneurial spirit.
