Gargi College is a distinguished women’s college under the University of Delhi, established in 1967. Named after the ancient Vedic philosopher Gargi, the college began with 207 students and 16 faculty, offering just two courses, and has since grown into a respected institution offering comprehensive education and facilities.

Gargi College Infrastructure & Campus Facilities
The infrastructure at Gargi College supports a robust academic and extracurricular environment. The campus spans around 9-13 acres of green land in the Siri Fort Institutional Area, South Campus, New Delhi. It has around 46 classrooms, many with audio-visual facilities, 4 lecture theatres, 21 departmental laboratories, and specialized facilities such as a learning resource centre, auditoriums and seminar halls. The campus also features amenities like a canteen, infirmary, a student common room, a bank counter (SBI), and gardens that contribute to campus greenery and ambience. Gargi College has also invested in eco-friendly infrastructure—such as a water recycling unit and sustainability initiatives led by its Eco-Club (Avni) and recognition for green campus values.
Gargi College also offers off-campus accommodation through the Under Graduate Hostel for Girls (UGHG) to enhance the residential options for its students. Scholarships and Financial Assistance at Gargi College
There are a number of financial assistance schemes offered by the college for students in need.
- Central Sector Scheme Of Scholarship For College And University Students – Awarded by the Ministry of Education to Class XII toppers from each State/Board.
Eligibility: Family income ≤ ₹4.5 lakh per annum, pursuing regular degree courses in recognised institutions, and not availing other scholarships.
Amount: ₹10,000 per year for UG (first three years)
The scholarship amount is Rs.5400/- per month for general degree courses and Rs.7800/- per month for technical/medical/professional/paramedical courses. For availing scholarship under this scheme, the income of the parents of the student should not exceed Rs.4.5 lakh per annum.
Awarded by the Ministry of Minority Affairs for financial assistance to the poor and meritorious students belonging to minority communities in India to enable them to pursue professional and technical courses. Financial assistance is given to pursue graduate-level or postgraduate-level technical and professional courses from a recognised institution.
The scheme offers 10,000 scholarships every year at Rs 0.80 lakh per year for the talented youth in the age group 17-22 years, for undertaking Bachelor and Masters level education in natural sciences.
PMS Scholarships are awarded to students having domicile of J&K State and having passed 10+2 Exam or 10+3 Diploma Exam from J&K and whose family income does not exceed Rs. 8 Lakh per annum are eligible for this scheme for pursuing higher studies outside the State of J&K.
Awarded to young women from economically disadvantaged backgrounds to support their pursuit of undergraduate or postgraduate degrees in science.

Student life at Gargi is enriched by numerous societies, clubs and regular activities. Undergraduate Admissions (UG)
Admission to Gargi College, Delhi University is based on CUET scores and governed by the Common Seat Allocation System (CSAS-UG).

Nivedita Summer Internship Programme (NSIP)
Instituted by the Internal Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC), the Nivedita Summer Internship Programme is an annual academic initiative dedicated to fostering research aptitude, interdisciplinary learning, and professional preparedness among undergraduate students.
Held every summer, NSIP invites students from across the University of Delhi to participate in curated internship modules spanning diverse fields, including Nanoscience, Psychological Well-being, Computational Chemistry, Sustainable Development, and Gender Studies. Sarthak – The Principal Internship Scheme (PIS)
Sarthak is an annual institutional internship programme that provides undergraduate students of Gargi College opportunities to engage in academic, administrative, and outreach functions of the college. Selected second- and third-year students from Science, Commerce, and Humanities streams undertake a 9-month internship under faculty mentorship, gaining practical skills in data handling, communication, documentation, and institutional processes. Interns receive a monthly stipend and an experience certificate.
Placement Cell at Gargi College helps provide students with employment opportunities and improve their communication and leadership skills. In the session 2024-25, the college reported 200+ companies came to recruit, including prominent names such as D.E.
