Delhi Traffic Police launches an anti-encroachment drive across Delhi to ensure people’s safety and smooth traffic movement.
The Delhi Traffic Police, along with local police and PCR units, has launched a targeted drive against illegal encroachment, illegal parking, unauthorised pushcarts, road obstructions, and markets.
This drive came as a response after 2 Delhi University students were harassed, chased, and stalked by men in an SUV with tinted windows near Mukherjee Nagar.
According to the Statesman, during the enforcement action by the Delhi Traffic Police, 975 illegal encroachments were removed, 6004 challans were issued, 138 vehicles were towed, 114 vehicles were clamped, and 120 vehicles were impounded.
With the recent threat to women’s safety on campus, Delhi traffic police said in a conversation with ANI that their focus will be on vehicles with tinted windows, as they pose a safety risk, as well as triple-riding, drunk driving, and individuals driving bikes and scooters without a helmet.
The Delhi Traffic Police aims to strengthen this action to ensure college students don’t face threats to their security and can travel to and from college peacefully.
