The University of Delhi has invited applications for its 2026-27 Financial Support Scheme, offering eligible undergraduate and postgraduate students fee waivers of up to 100 per cent based on family income.
The University of Delhi (DU), through the Office of the Dean of Students’ Welfare (DSW), has invited applications for the Financial Support Scheme (FSS) for the academic session 2026-27. The scheme provides fee assistance to full-time bona fide undergraduate and postgraduate students enrolled in DU departments, institutes, and centres, based on their annual family income. Online applications are open until October 13, 2026.
The scheme runs across two income categories. Students whose annual family income is up to ₹4 lakh fall under Category 1 and are eligible for a 100 per cent fee waiver, subject to a cap of ₹15,000 or the actual fee payable, whichever is lower. Those under Category 2, with family income between ₹4,00,001 and ₹8 lakh, can avail a 50 per cent waiver, capped at ₹10,000 or the actual fee payable, whichever is lower. In both categories, the waiver covers all fee components except examination and hostel fees.
Certain categories of students are excluded from the scheme entirely. These include students enrolled in DU’s constituent colleges, BTech programmes (barring those pursued at the Cluster Innovation Centre), five-year integrated law programmes, the School of Open Learning, and the Non-Collegiate Women’s Education Board. Students admitted under the Orphan Quota and students with benchmark disabilities (PwBD) are also ineligible, as they are already provided fee waivers at the time of admission. Students with an Essential Repeat (ER) status in any previous examination are also ineligible to apply, regardless of which income category they would otherwise fall under.
Applicants are required to submit a set of supporting documents along with their application. These include a copy of an EWS/OBC-NCL certificate or an annual family income certificate issued by a competent authority after March 31, 2026; self-attested copies of the latest income tax returns for 2025-26 of the student’s parents and unmarried siblings, with unmarried brothers required to be below 25 years of age, along with their respective PAN cards. A signed undertaking form and a bona fide certificate—signed by the Head or Director of the concerned department, institute, or centre—are also mandatory, alongside a self-attested marksheet from the applicant’s most recent examination and their latest fee receipt. Applicants must additionally furnish self-attested bank account details, either as a passbook copy or a cancelled cheque, with the student’s name, account number, and IFSC code clearly visible. Income certificates issued in the student’s own name, or those attested by a notary, will not be accepted.
The university has stated that the schedule for offline submission of the printed application form and physical verification of documents at the DSW office will be announced separately on the official website. Students have been advised to keep checking the DSW website for updates and can direct queries to fss@dsw.du.ac.in.
