SBSC's Himadrish Suwan becomes the youngest recipient of Dr. A.P.J. Abdul Kalam Award

The ceremony was full of noteworthy personalities including the Cabinet Ministers, industrialists, social workers, poets, artists, writers, sports persons and media along with the 21 recipients from all over the nation. The award is given to honour achievements towards Social Service and a Clean, Green, Healthy and Educated India. Union Minister for Mines and Steel, Shri. Narendra Singh Tomar and Union Minister Gen. V.K.Singh honoured Himadrish with the most coveted Dr. A.P.J. Abdul Kalam Award, 2015 for his contribution towards Clean India Movement. He is the founder of Clean India, Glow India (Mission-E-Safai), an initiative by the Varsity in lieu of Swachh Bharat Abhiyaan. Himanshu, is also a renowned Columnist, Citizen Journalist (C.J.) for a number of reputed dailies and magazines registered with the Government of India including Lawyers Update, Just in Print, Youth Ki Awaaz, Indian Exponent and The Global Times. He has represented the Indian Youth at the Global Opportunity Panel 2015: Global Opportunity Network, UN Global Compact as a panellist on the issue of Youth unemployment and underemployment. Originally hailing from Ranchi, Himadrish is an RTI Activist has filed over 100 RTI’s till date. His first RTI, filed at the age of 15, questioning safety measures in Indian Railways brought a welcoming change in the coaches of Ranchi-New Delhi Rajdhani Express. Being the proud recipient of accolades like winner at the ‘Global Media Summit 2013’, ‘Global Award for Excellence 2013’ in the field of Social Work and Youth Empowerment and the ‘Young Achiever’s Award 2014’ for Information Activism in the area of Media and Information Activism, Himadrish has never looked back.
