JDMC organises Miss Janki Devi Memorial College 2016 for its freshers

Taking place on September 17th, 2016, Miss JDMC Contest saw a great participation of not only dedicated participants but also an enthusiastic audience.

The event began with the distribution of certificates of the Poster Making Competition organised by the Art Club of the college under the supervision of Mrs Smita Mitra, Convenor of Art Club after which the zeal of the contest took over. First round of the pageant called the Corporate round which allowed the participants to walk down the ramp in formal attire, representing very fashionably, how women have been and are growing as individuals in all the domains of life. In their introductions, all the participants expressed how the contest was an opportunity for them to showcase their talent and reassert the true idea of beauty.

Preceded by an energetic and wonderful performance by ‘Nritya’, the second round was a Talent round where the participants gave brilliant dance performances that compelled the audience to sway with energy. The third round was Cowboy-themed where participants walked in cowboy outfits with grace and strength.

After this round, top ten participants were shortlisted by the worthy jury members- Ms. Shivani Rautela, Ms. Apeksha Rai and Ms. Anishka. The fourth round was a Question and Answer round. This round had the participants voicing their opinions and thoughts on significant social issues. It was followed by giving away of  the titles to contestants. For the fifth and the final round, top five contestants were chosen to share their opinions on the idea of ‘Staying Young at Heart’.

Prior to the naming of the winners, the Principal, Dr. Swati Pal walked down the ramp with the jury members and the Student’s Union and the audience was seen cheering and applauding with excitement.

Much-awaited results were then announced. Shelley Kataria, who impressed the audience and the judges with her strong personality, her lovely dance performance and intelligent answers was crowned Miss JDMC 2016. The first runner-up, Kritika Kumar and the second runner-up, Lakshita Chopra were also appreciated for their amazing performances. The three winners were presented with bouquets and gift hampers and all the participants received tokens of participation for their great efforts.

High-spirited and fun-filled, the event was concluded by the college President, Simran Gupta which was followed by loud, happy cheers.
