th, 2015. The award was received by Prof. Vijay K. Chaudhary and Dr. Amita Gupta of DU who have invented a rapid diagnostic test for Tuberculosis, named ‘TB Confirm’. They were rewarded with a Citation along with a cash prize of Rs.1,oo,ooo INR. This function coincided with the third Conference of the Vice Chancellors of Central Universities, held on February 4th and 5th, 2015. The other categories apart from Innovation were ‘Best University’ and ‘Research’ which were awarded to University of Hyderabad and Jamia Millia Islamia for excellent work in the field of Astrophysics and Cosmology respectively. The President had announced these awards at last year’s Vice Chancellors Conference with the objective of promoting a spirit of healthy competition among Central Universities. The competition required the teams submitting their ideas online. A selection committee comprising of Smt. Omita paul, Secretary top the President as Chairperson and Secretary, Department of Higher Education, MHRD; Secretary, Department of Science and Technology; Chairman, UGC; Chairperson and Vice Chairpersons of National Innovation Foundation; Director-General, Council for Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR) and Director IIT Delhi as members chose the winners of the Awards.]]>
