Women’s Organisations and AISA Protest Against Assault on Women Protesters

At the protest against Lakhimpur Kheri Violence, two women protesters were assaulted and beaten along with others at the hands of Delhi Police. AISA and other Womens’ Organisations organised a protest against the same.

Various Womens’ organisations like All India Progressive Women’s Association (AIPWA), All India Democratic Women’s Association (AIDWA), National Federation of Indian Women (NFIW) and All India Student’s Association (AISA) got along to protest at Delhi Police Headquarters against the brutality perpetrated by Delhi Police on women protesters.

On the 10th of October, AISA and its activists protested against the Lakhimpur massacre at Amit Shah’s residence where they met police brutality, inhumane beating and women protesters faced harassment and assault.

Today, while raising the slogans of Ajay Mishra to must be expelled along with demands for suspension of ACP Pragya Anand, the delegation was led by Shreya (AISA), Kavita Krishnan (AIPWA), Mariam (AIDWA), Annie Raja (NFIW) and Neha (AISA).

This kind of violence right in front of the Home Minister’s residence while Ajay Mishra walks free symbolizes the nature of the BJP Government and Delhi Police! We saw it in Jamia, in JNU, at Shaheen Bagh and in DU that the Delhi Police has inflicted physical sexual violence on women protesters and we challenge them that we will be here to resist it every time!

The protesters were also firm in their demands asking Ajay Mishra to be expelled and for the farm laws to be repealed. Questions were raised against incessant police brutality against protesters and disregard of the procedure.

ACP Chanakyapuri, Pragya Anand has been brought forward as the one who ordered the assault on AISA activists Shreya and Neha along with other activists. Both of them even shared their accounts of being beaten and assaulted.

What the Police does in North East, in Adivasi areas, in Kashmir, under Amit Shah it is doing in Delhi, right in front of the HM’s house!

A delegation from protesters submitted a memorandum to the Deputy Commissioner of Delhi Police where it was ensured delegation that an independent inquiry will be constituted in the matter. Upon being highlighted by protesters that no independent inquiry can take place until ACP Pragya Anand is suspended, action on her was taken into cognizance.
