Auburn Umbrella: Wardrobe Essentials for Delhi Winters

Here’s a list of must-have fashion staples for you to treat yourself to and prepare for
the Delhi Winters.

Winter is here! Although we are not in our college campuses to bask in the sun and lay
in our college lawns while sipping hot coffee/tea and to really enjoy winter, it does not
mean we cannot amp up our wardrobe for the winters. Winters in Delhi are a little
unpredictable as it would be hot during the day and chilly during the night. So,
experimenting with your look and layering is a good idea. Make a bold statement with Outerwear

In winters, what you wear on the outside matters the most and you can make a
statement with a lot of things. The most statement piece is the long coat. You
definitely need one in your wardrobe – from the double-breasted style to trench coats.
They are a great investment piece that will last you a lifetime. From turtle necks to
short dresses, you can throw this on over anything. Just layer it on!
Winters are all about experimentation, and sweaters and jackets do the trick for you.
You can choose from several styles and fabrics to shine out.

To make things even more ‘raging’, you can opt for bright colours to add some zing to
your neutral or all-black outfit.

Beat the chill with perfect Bottoms and Shoes
The complete convenience and perfection of wearing warm, perfectly fitting leggings to
complete your perfect winter look cannot be denied. You can also team your favourite
jeans with a structured blazer for formal occasions or a pullover for more casual
occasions. Winters can become boring with the grey tone all around you. So, you can
also choose to go for floral pants or colour trousers, instead of the usual denim pants.
These can make any outfit look amazing and can be worn with a lot of combinations.

While figuring out shoes, winters are incomplete without boots. Elegant and fun, they
are the perfect footwear for a chilly night. You can go for thigh-high boots, calf-
length boots and of course, ankle boots. Also, find yourself a good pair of joggers, two
or three would be fine as well ;). You do not have to go on a run essentially, but whether
you dress them up or dress them down, they will look and most importantly feel great.

Play around with winter Accessories
Do we even get the winter feels until we have wrapped ourselves with a scarf to keep
warm or donned those snug woollen caps? Stack up your drawer with lots of scarves,
stoles and mufflers. Play with colours and patterns. A cosy beanie will always come to
the rescue, from hiding your bad hair day to covering your ears. Donning a woollen cap
that looks good and is comfortable will overcome all sorts of winter problems – whether
you’re on the metro or just battling your way to the morning class – winter caps are
honest-to-god ‘trendy lifesavers’.

Sadly, it’s mostly not that cold in Delhi to wear gloves as well. But there’s no harm in
owning a pair. Touchscreen-compatible gloves are a must-buy if you want to get rid of
the hassle of taking off gloves every time you have to use your phone.

With the New Year being just a few days away, many of the above items will be on sale,
giving you a good amount of time to thoroughly enjoy those bargains and break them in
so they are ready for next winter. For buying these necessities, whenever things turn
to be better and we are allowed to go out, do not forget to check out some thrift
markets in Delhi such as Sarojini Nagar Market, Majnu Ka Tilla, Kamla Nagar Market,
Janpath and Lajpat Nagar Market, offering the latest fashion at wallet-friendly
prices.
