More than One Lakh Students Apply to DU

The University of Delhi had started its admission procedure on 20th June 2020. As of now more than 1.44 lakh applicants have registered on the online portal of the University of Delhi for undergraduate admissions.

The esteemed Delhi University has started its much-awaited admission procedure pretty late this year due to the COVID-19 pandemic situation. The admission process to this University is what families in the country look forward as their hold their breaths. The cut offs skyrocket each year, as students work hard to make it into the best of the best. According to the official website of the University (www.du.ac.in), more than 1.44 lakh applicants have registered on the online admissions portal, while more than 47,000 aspirants have paid their registration fees as well. 

Out of the total number of registrations to DU, more than 34,000 applicants belong to the general category, more than 6,000 belong to the backward classes, 5,000+ belong from the scheduled castes, 900+ belong from the scheduled tribes and more than 700 aspirants are from the economically weaker sections.

The amount of applicants who’ve registered for the Postgraduate courses according to the data on the site indicates that more than 10,000 applicants are from the General category, 3304 from other backward classes, 2577 from scheduled castes, 663 from scheduled tribes and more than 500 are from the economically weaker sections.

The admission portal will be open for applicants till the 4th July, and the dates for the cut off lists are yet to be announced by the University due to the uncertain situation created by the coronavirus pandemic situation. This situation also worsens as there uncertainty surrounding the final-year students’ examinations increases based on recent information. It is clear that all eyes are on Delhi University.
