Zenith 2017, the 9th edition of Zenith, the annual Economics conclave of Miranda House is scheduled to take place on the 10th and 11th February. It consists of 8 events, all of which are open to colleges across the nation and can be taken part in by students of all departments. With a total of about 1800 registrations till date, and on the spot registrations still open for 5 events, the popularity of this year’s Zenith is immense.
Following is the lineup for the two days-
9.30 AM-10.45 AM– Inaugural Address: Panel discussion by Dr. Jayati Ghosh and Dr. Surjit Bhalla
10.45AM-11AM– Lighting the lamp ceremony
11.30 AM- 1.30 PM– War of Words: Slam Poetry
12.30PM-1 PM– Round 1: D-Street Survivor- This will constitute of a stock market quiz, based on relevant movies and financial crises
1 PM-2 PM– LUNCH BREAK
2 PM- 4 PM– Round 2: D-Street Survivor- This round will consist of several rounds of trading. The final balance at the end will determine the winners.
2 PM-5 PM– Case Study(Finals) – 8 teams who qualified in the 1st round will be expected to find a solution for an imaginary or a real-life crisis situation given to them a few days prior to the event.
2.30 PM- 5 PM– UNCENSORED : Discussion on Ethical Capitalism and movie screening
9.30 AM- 1.30 PM– Capital Controls- The event will constitute of several rounds of investing by the teams in companies facing crises. If the company is able to get through the crisis situation, the investor(s) who had invested in it will gain money. If not, they lose money.
10 AM- 1 PM– Incubator: B-Plan- Teams who qualified in Round 1 will be asked to solve a problem set concerning the sector assigned to them, thus testing their on-the-spot thinking skills.
10 AM- 1 PM: Battle of Hogwarts- This event will constitute of several rounds testing the participants’ knowledge of the Harry Potter series.
One of the rounds will be treasure hunt.
1 PM- 2 PM: LUNCH BREAK
2 PM- 5 PM– Negozi- This event is a miniature trading model to test the negotiation skills. Teams will be required to strategize, take quick decisions, be efficient and use their creativity to win this event.
2 PM- 5 PM– Quizonomics- A quiz based on Economics and fields related to it, conducted by the famous quizmaster KUNAL SAVARKAR.
2.30 PM- 5 PM– Movie screening: PRIDE (Theme: Rainbow Economics)
