Microsoft Technical Community (MSTC) is organising a three-day long Hackathon in Lovely Professional University, wherein more than 400 participants from all over Punjab are to take part in a straight 36-hour event.
The event will take off with the team distribution and further the teams will be put to test with their creativity and their readiness to counter the time barrier. They will be given several themes where they can come up with an innovative solution and work on that solution in form of a tech utility.
About the event:
The event is being conducted in Lovely Professional University from 18th to 20th November. The event is organized by MTSC and will be a full-time running event wherein the candidates are to work on their ideas. Themes to be included in the hackathon:
Chatbots are the new apps. So why build a website for a restaurant? Instead build a chatbot to order the food! What about a chatbot to remind you about your homework, etc.

4. IoT and hardware Hacks
It will be amazing to have some hardware hacks based on Arduino or Raspberry pi. With advent of IoT things students can make really exciting projects!
The gaming industry is expected to be $111 billion industry by 2018. With millions of games across game consoles, PC, web and mobile, gaming is one of the most lucrative industries.
In particular, we are looking for participants to come up with an innovative concept for an application based on blockchain technologies that show how the principle of secure, public ledgers can be used to disrupt conventional business models.
6. Big Data
Big data is a term that describes the large volume of data both structured and unstructured that inundates a business on a day-to-day basis.
We are really eager to see some projects that are using big data to derive meaningful/interesting insights.
After the participants are done with their implementation, the judges will evaluate them in a systematic manner to ensure fairness and the winners get to have the fruit to their hard work that they put into the event.
The Rewards and Prizes:
The 1st Prize winner gets to have a Cash Prize, 400$ worth subscriptions (JetBrains, Temboo, Hackerearth), AdvantEdge Mentorship, t-shirts for winning team (AWS, Hackerearth), internship opportunities, The Wolfram Award worth $375 along with certificates.
There are also several special category prizes where students will be awarded if they use our partner company APIs. Henceforth, LPU continues to keep up with the current trends in the market to put students in the flow of the tech giants. The basic idea is to inculcate within students an idea of what the future holds for the IT sector in India and how to aptly blend in the new atmosphere. This is made possible by collaborating with these tech giants and organize further events in the same hope.
