Abhyuday, IIT Bombay Annual Social Festival 2018

With the onset of a brand new year, IIT Bombay is all set to unveil its most popular annual social festival-Abhyuday 2018 this January. Save the dates 20th-21st of January for Enabling Humanity With Human Rights.

Abhyuday, the social body of IIT Bombay aims to sensitize people for adopting a socially conscious outlook. The 5th edition of this Annual Social Festival encompasses within itself a series of events, exhibitions, lectures, workshops and competitions.
Dia Mirza, the UN Environment Goodwill Ambassador, and Prerana Langa, the CEO of YES foundation would be the cordial speakers for Changemaker Series-an ideal platform for discussing the solutions to eradicate the misery of street children in India.

Socio-X series along with Medha Patkar (Human Right Activist and Founder of Narmada Bachao Andolan) and Prakash Amte (Padmashri and Mother Teresa Award winner) would be an inspiration to people who do pursue dreams to evolve their societies but keep holding back themselves!
Music lovers do not need to keep out of the sway. The Mumbai Local Beggar cum Artist, a musical night featuring Akriti Kakkar and the undiscovered band of NGO Swaradhar won’t take much to sync your mood with the beats!

The Women Empowerment Conclave is the one to witness the untold journey of a woman via the story of her life. Do not forget to acknowledge those women NGOs who would be publicising their artistic skills at the stalls! Being at the social festival, how can one skip the LGBTQ issue. The Rainbow Diaries welcomes the activists Harish Iyer and Sonal Giani to extend support to the LGBT(Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender) community.

When it comes to raising voice against the human rights violation, Poetry is ordinary language raised to the nth power. Awaaz-Poetry Slam brings to you The Quill Company to raise awareness and spur the much required change! Afroz Shah(Initiated Asia’s biggest Versova Beach cleanup campaign and also known as CNN Indian of the year for social justice) to be felicitated at the Prakriti creating awareness about the environmental issues in Mumbai!.

Previous editions of the festival saw a participation of 10000 students from more than 150+ colleges and 50+ NGOs around the country. Numerous personalities including Aamir Khan, Padmabhushan D.R.Mehta, Joe Madiath, Anshu Gupta, Shailesh Gandhi, Sonam Kapoor, Shraddha Kapoor and the entire Satyamev Jayate team graced the festival with their presence.
