It probably wouldn’t be too far fetched to say that in less than a decade from now, KNC will be amongst the best rated colleges of the country. Here’s why…

Location

The college is located on the Siri Fort Road, right next to Kamla Nehru College. In the heart of South Delhi, it is very close to prominent market places like Aurobindo Market, M Block Market at GK-1, etc; and well-connected by bus to other parts of the city.

How to Get There

Bus Route No. 413, which connects Mehrauli to Nizammuddin Railway Station via Lajpat Nagar stops at JB Tito Marg, which is perpendicular to the road on which Kamla Nehru College is located. Bus Route No. 500, which connects Saket to Super Bazar (which is in CP) via INA (which is the market opposite Dilli Haat), also stops at the same place. Kamla Nehru College is a minute-long walk away from this bus stop. However, the service of both these buses is not very impressive. Bus Route No. 544 which connects Badarpur to Sarojini Nagar also passes by the college.

Popular Courses

KNC offers an interesting mix of courses in commerce and the arts. Of these, the departments of Economics, Commerce, Geography and English are perhaps the best known. Further, KNC is amongst the few colleges in the university which offer a degree in Journalism.

Admission Procedure

General Category

The Common form works perfectly for the general category, and applicant’s 12th grade marks alone determine her entry into the institution. However, in the case of Journalism, there is a separate entrance exam.

Sports and ECA Category

In order to apply through the ECA and Sports quotas students are expected to fill forms specific to these categories. Auditions, trials and interviews are held, and results are declared soon after. Applications through ECA categories are all judged by committees specific to the talent applied through and offer up to 5% leverage. What is most unique about the ECA trials here is that members of the students’ executive board involved in those activities have a say in the selection process. The logic being that they are the ones who are best versed with the team’s competitive piece of the upcoming year, the kind of performers they’re looking for, etc.

Infrastructure

Nestled comfortably in South Delhi, KNC allows its students a feeling of space as they can lounge about in the cricket field or bask in the comfort of the open-air amphitheater- also known as the ‘Chaupal’. With a newly renovated auditorium and magnificent stage, the college now sports a fresh new look that is only accentuated by cultivated lawns, a spacious canteen and a new gym.

Out-of Station Students

There is no on-campus housing available for outstation students. However, the large number of PG accommodations around the college make up for it.

Add-On Courses

The college offers a certificate course in Women’s studies along with the usual language courses, the most popular of which is French.
