With over fifteen well-known courses in commerce and liberal arts, JMC is easily amongst the better-reputed colleges of the university. Established in 1968, it is run by the sisters of Jesus and Mary congregation.
Location
In the leafy green locales of Chanakyapuri, JMC is perhaps in the best maintained area Delhi. Its proximity to the ring road means that it is very easily accessible, yet its location ensures a safe distance from the cacophony of the city.

How to get there
JMC is well-connected by several major bus routes. Both 724 and 442 end at Nehru Place and pass via JMC. Major stops include South Ex, AIIMS, RK Puram, etc. 740 too stops right next to JMC. It connects Patparganj to Dhaula Kuan. This bus passes via Mandi house and ITO, which are very close to CP.
Popular Courses
JMC offers 15 courses in liberal arts and commerce, including popular ones in sociology, history and philosophy. Mathematics is also a sought-after subject, along with economics, psychology, English and commerce. It also offers a BA Programme course and a four-year course in elementary education.
Admission Procedure
The Admission process in JMC is quite simple. Being a minority institution, the common form doesn’t work here. The specific college forms are available at the institution; and there is a willing and efficient group of staff and students who address admission-related queries. Admission to under graduate programme in JMC, like everywhere else in DU, depends on the percentage of marks obtained in 10+2 or its equivalent.
Infrastructure
JMC’s auditorium is arguably one of the best in the University with updated equipment, a spacious stage and a large seating capacity. The college has a sprawling campus that extends over a vast area of 14 acres. There is a large teaching block with separate tutorial rooms, games rooms, canteen, laboratories and a huge library with over 40000 books and periodicals. Presently a multi-purpose auditorium is also under construction. Further, the college has separate sports fields for hockey, football & cricket and courts for lawn tennis and volley ball.
Accommodation
JMC offers no hostel facilities for outstation students. However, a large number of paying guest accommodations around campus ensures a comfortable living even for women new to the city.
Add on Courses
The Non-Collegiate Women’s Education Board offers a parallel system of education that using existing institutional facilities and buildings by providing opportunities to women, who for various reasons cannot join a regular college. These classes are held during vacations and on Saturdays. Further, JMC is an IGNOU centre. Apart from these, the college offers a number of certificate courses like Financial Management, Travel Tourism, Media Studies, Interior Design and News Reading and Anchoring. Also, computer-related skills and language courses are also taught here.
