“Convergence’19, the much awaited Annual Leadership Summit of Shaheed Sukhdev College of Business Studies, was a perfect blend of ingenious inspiration and a witty dose of humour. The students and professors alike were very enthused with the presence of our chief guest Mr Madan Lal, a former Indian cricketer who was part of the World Cup winning team of 1983.
The first half of the summit saw established personalities like Akhand Swaroop Pandit (ex-IES officer), Akshara Damle (Psychologist), Haragopal Mangipudi (CEO of finUNO), Maxima Basu (Oscar nominated costume designer) and Harjas Singh (lifeskills coach). The second half of the summit started strong with the bold and effervescent Medha Patkar Ji (social activist). Ending Medha Ji’s session gave way to panel discussions which comprised of Akansh Gaur(creative head; Timeliners) , Apoorv Singh Karki(creative director; TVF), Aabir Vyas(Youtuber) and Shreya Mehta(Actress).”

3Day 2 of the second edition of Business Excellence Summit, XIMB which took place on 14th September 2019 began with a panel discussion on the theme “Invest. Innovate & Integrate”.

Mr. Saurav Mohanty, Co-Founder & CEO, CDS Development Centre LLP, Mr. Aharnish Mishra, Co-Founder, BiziBean, Mr. Sujit Panigrahi, Co-Founder & CEO, Sequoia Fitness & Sports Technology and Mr. Naveen Kejriwal, General Manager – Eastern India and Overseas, Lenovo, served as panelists for the session. The moderator of the discussion, Dr. DV Ramana, started the session by posing the question of whether innovation could bridge the gap between rich and poor and reduce educational inequality.

Mr. Naveen Kejriwal, the first speaker of the day discussed how it is important to consider if the ideas are practical, radically new and sustainable. He also emphasized the significance of creating core groups that must involve field people as well. Mr. Sujit Panigrahi furthered the discussion and elucidated the importance of investing in human capital, collaborations, relationships, and intellectual property. He talked about building cohesive innovation architecture and agility. Mr. Aharnish Mishra, the third speaker of the panel advanced the discussion by focusing on how innovation is all about creating meaning for oneself. “Innovation is disrupting the curve and moving to a higher curve. Go bold, go big, and change your curve”. Mr. Saurav K Mohanty, the final speaker of the panel stated that the only person who could ensure direct rewards and sustainability is us, hence one must invest in oneself. “The purpose of innovation is to simplify the tasks and believe that it would make things happen”.

This was followed by an interactive session where the inquisitive students posed thought-provoking questions to the panelists. Prof. Ramana felicitated the speakers and concluded the session with a vote of thanks.

The second half of the summit began with a panel discussion on the theme “Glocalization in business”. The moderator for the discussion, Prof Santosh Kumar Prusty opened the floor for discussion by stating that “Glocalization requires globalization”.

Mrs. Prativa Mohapatra, Vice president – sales, IBM, was the first speaker for the panel discussion. She spoke about how businesses today have various facets, mainly globalization, glocalization, extreme glocalization, personalization and even reverse globalization and how these facets are visible in the culture, values and even attire of the business.

Mr. Binny Mathews, Vice president & Business head – Utilities, resources & energy sector, Infosys, was the second speaker for the panel discussion. He spoke about how glocalization is an age-old concept and described real-time business scenarios that exhibit how global traditions and products are localized to suit the needs of the people.

Mr. Debabrat Mishra, Partner at Deloitte was the third speaker for the panel discussion, emphasized the significance of imbibing a global mindset to survive in the ever-changing business world.

The discussion was followed by an interactive Q&A session and the felicitation of the panelists. Mr. Shivam Jolly, co-ordinator of X-FIN concluded the discussion with a vote of thanks.

During a simultaneous leadership talk delivered by Mr. Ashesh Kumar, Head- Analytics of L&T financial services spoke about delivering value proposition through analytics.

The inaugural speech was delivered by the chief guest Shri Asit Kumar Tripathy who addressed XIMB as the ‘Institute of Excellence’. Focusing on the theme of the summit, he mentioned that “Unless you have empathy for the people at the bottom of the pyramid, it doesn’t make good business sense.”
The guest speaker, Mr Anand Sen spoke what market leaders do in tough times that make them better than the rest. He elucidated the concept of Total Quality Management (TQM) and how the robust deployment of TQM through Policy Management, Daily Management and focused methodologies transformed Tata Steel’s business. He emphasized how important it is for organizations to focus not just on the profits, but to cater to the needs of all the stakeholders with a view on sustainable growth with a focus on Cross-Functional Management.

Mr Prithvijit Roy, Co-Founder and CEO of Bridge i2i Analytics Solution, was the man of the moment in the afternoon session. His dynamic personality lit up the stage through his out-of-the-box touchpoints on the theme “Business Transformation and Artificial Intelligence”. His multi-dimensional expertise across domains provided the budding managers with a prelude of things to come in the future.

The penultimate day of Business Excellence Summit shall witness a congregation of some erudite corporate minds. An analytics workshop on “Delivering Proposition through Analytics” by Mr Ashesh Kumar, Head of Analytics, L&T Financial Services will be conducted.

The 3rd and the final day shall commence with a leadership talk by Mr Yeshwanth Nag, Co-Founder, The Thickshake Factory followed by a panel discussion on the burning question “Is Disruptive Innovation the only way to create value?” by Mr Stalin Mohapatra, Head, Risk Management, UBER; Mr Kamadeba Mohanty, COO, Grocery retail, Reliance Retail and Mr Harshit Vyas, VP Head-west region, OYO. Mr Siddharth Dash, EVP, UTI Mutual Funds will deliver a leadership talk that would be followed by Mr Sabyasachi Das, Director, DXC Technologies giving his much-awaited views on “How to Tame Automation Sprawl?”.

Illuminatix, the Media and PR Cell of XIMB organized their annual media conclave ‘Communique’ on 1st September 2019. The theme of the discussion was “Evolution of Media- The Nexus of Brand Transformation.”
Mr. Yuvraj Mehta, Head- Corporate Brand Management and Communications, Larsen and Toubro, Mr. Digvijay Shekhawat, Senior Vice President, Ogilvy, Mr. Manish Jhaveri, Senior Creative Consultant- IBD and Da Cunhas, and Mr. Bibhu Ranjan Mishra, Associate Editor, Business Standard, were the esteemed speakers of the occasion. Professor Sandip Anand, Professor of Marketing, Xavier Institute of Management, Bhubaneswar, served as the moderator for the discussion.
The dignitaries inaugurated the event by lighting the ceremonial lamp. Professor Sandip Anand started the session by briefly elucidating on the topic.

The first speaker, Mr. Yuvraj Mehta talked about how social media has revolutionized media. He cited the example of the MeToo movement and how a single tweet through digital media spread like wild-fire. Within a fortnight, there were 2.3 million tweets, 24 million facebook posts that spread across 85 countries. Further, he talked about how brands are moving towards online marketing as it not only provides better engagement with the customers but also better return on investment.

The second speaker, Mr. Digvijay Shekhawat started by explaining the concepts of Strategic Marketing and Data-Driven Marketing. He talked about how brands are specifically targeting their ‘ideal buyer’ rather than selecting a broad market. He further gave insights about various successful marketing campaigns like GoPro’s ‘Photo of the Day’, IBM’s ‘Call for Code’.
The next speaker, Mr. Manish Jhaveri started by drawing an analogy between Bob Dylan’s song ‘The time they are a-changin’ and marketers who need to keep up with change otherwise they will be left behind. He talked about topicality and witty one-liners, something which has always been Amul’s strong suit. “Before Twitter, Amul used to be the twitter with its witty one-liners.”

Mr. Bibhu Ranjan Mishra was the final speaker of the day. He spoke about the rising issues of misinformation on social media. He told that although social media is becoming the preferred medium of communication, traditional mediums cannot be ruled out as they are still known for their authentic content.
The panel interaction was followed by an interactive question and answer session, where students posed inquisitive and insightful questions. This was followed by the launch of the 4th edition of ‘Communique’ newsletter. The eminent speakers felicitated the winners of ‘Communiquiz’, a quiz competition organized by Illuminatix in association with XQuizzite on 20th August 2019.
Ms. Kriti Sinha, the student coordinator of Illuminatix delivered the vote of thanks to all the dignitaries, media partners and concluded the event.

X-SEED, the Entrepreneurship Cell of XIMB organized its annual business conclave ‘KICKSTART’ on 31st August 2019. The theme of the conclave was “Partage D’ Experience”

The speakers for the occasion were Mr. Saurabh Dayal and Mr. Rajat Tuli. The session was moderated by Ms. Cini Mohanty. The dignitaries officially began the conclave with the lighting of the ceremonial lamp.

Cini Mohanty, Executive Officer of Confederation of Indian Industry, broke the ice by asking questions to the audience regarding their future prospective. She then introduced the topic and the speakers.

The first speaker, Saurabh Dayal, co-founder of ClearDekho.com, narrated his journey from the corporate world to the startups. He spoke about how he turned his failures into a big success by never giving up and being consistent in his efforts. One of his key advices is to have the right team with varied skill sets, who are willing to give their best. He concluded by saying “There should be a right marriage between the partner and the brand.”

The second speaker, Mr. Rajat Tuli, co-founder of Happily Unmarried and Ustraa, spoke about how the evolution of the internet has broken the traditional barriers for startups in India. He emphasized on the importance of believing in your idea and having a strong brand and product. He concluded his talk by asking the audience to think big, to be honest, and to be innovative.

The session was followed by an interactive Q&A session. Ms. Cini Mohanty asked the speakers insightful questions regarding the startup industry, and then the house was open for further questions from the audience. Mr. Akash Agarwal, the student coordinator of X-SEED delivered the vote of thanks to all the dignitaries and concluded the event.

ComQuest’19 witnessed a plethora of inquisitive and curious quizzers from all over the university and beyond. There was a spot-on flow of buzzing energy in the entire campus of Jesus and Mary College.

Department of Commerce, Jesus and Mary College along with JMC’s Quiz Society : Curiosus in collaboration with JIMS Kalkaji presented the most rattling and much awaited Business Quiz ever : ComQuest’19 .

The prestigious event was held on 20th August , 2019 in the premises of Jesus and Mary College under the leadership and guidance of Dr. Sunita Kaistha (JMC) , Dr. Rekha Dayal (JMC) and Dr. Preeti Singh (JIIMS). The occasion was graced by none other than Mamta Singh (Inspector General , Haryana Police ) and Surbhi Bansal (CEO , Window Magic ).

This year ComQuest experienced huge success , enthralling competitiveness , positivity and an immense love for quizzing – with over 700 registrations, across 100 colleges .

The quiz was conducted by Gautam Bose, the renowned quiz master and CEO of Greycells who kept the entire hall intrigued and on their toes with questions that were put forth to the participants .

Soon after the addressal by the Chief Guest and Guest of Honour, the commencement of the preliminary round took place, with only 6 teams qualifying for the final round of the business management quiz. The final round included logical, facts and GK based questions, with an array of written and buzzer type questions. The highlight was that, not just the winners were felicitated, but even the audience were awarded prizes for active participation in questions given to them.

The 1st position in the quiz along with a cash prize of ?20,000 was awarded to Shrey S. & Jayant V.

Followed by the 2nd position and a cash prize of ?10,000 to
Aditya Chakrabarty and Deepjyoti Kalita.

The 3rd position along with a cash prize of ?5,000 was awarded to Soham Shailendra and Shobhit Mahato.

All in all ComQuest’19 was an event that was bigger and better in every sense ! It was a wonderful experience to see the enthusiastic quizoholics .

Connecting Dreams Foundation organized Launch Event for the Dream Season 2019-2020 at S P Jain Auditorium on 23rd August 2019. The auditorium was packed with vibrant and enthusiastic volunteers whose ingenious ideas and perceptions made us believe that indeed the Sky is the limit. A wave of hope and goodness could be experienced as the children of Sabki Paathshala MLNC Chapter performed on stage. The event also marked the launch of Ideation to Action Academy (i2a) and Systematic Accelerator for High Impact program – another stride CDF took towards creating young entrepreneurs and CHANGEMAKERS.

CDF Delhi team with its 29 college chapters officially began their journey with the ambition to collect and connect thousands of Dreams this Season and ameliorate the condition of impoverished section of society.

The Economics Department of Jesus and Mary College held an orientation on the launch of the Centre for Global Data Visualisation on 23 August, 2019. The launch is in collaboration with QED group, USA.

QED is a global consulting firm with more than 20 years of experience providing data-driven and insightful solutions in nearly 100 countries.

Ms Neelima Grover, CEO, QED group motivated the audience with her successful journey with QED group.

The session was conducted by Ms Reema Rustagi, Sr Data scientist , QED. It further talked about its various partners all along the globe, of which JMC will also be a part of.

All the students especially from Maths, commerce and economics Department were welcomed. The orientation concluded with a Q&A round.

When Tuheena Raj graduated from The Shri Ram College of Commerce in 2016, little did she
know that she would soon be stepping into the campus in a new role in less than 3 years.
A student of Bachelor of Commerce at SRCC, Tuheena went on to become a banker with Citi
right after graduation. However, it is not banking that brings her back to campus but her
capabilities as poet and a writer.
Tuheena is the founder and writer of the famous literary blog WordsofWorth. She writes quotes,
epigrams and poems with a socialist bent of mind. Her poems speak about self love, mental
health awareness and body positivity. She also speaks about feminism, equality and inclusivity.
Started in the year, 2016 when Tuheena was in college, WordsofWorth now has over 150k
readers on various social media platforms.

“Delhi University has a huge role in shaping me as a person.” says Tuheena.
“My father is an associate professor at the University of Delhi and I aspired to study here ever
since I was a child. My time at SRCC helped me understand people. Delhi University is such a
melting pot of cultures. Being a part of Enactus and the Dramatics society in college helped
understand nuances of peoples’ emotions. It made me take peoples’ experiences and stories
and make them a part of my own” she adds.
In 2018, Tuheena was first invited as a guest speaker and judge of the poetry open at the
College of Vocational Studies. Post which she has been invited by colleges across DU like Kirori
Mal College, Daulat Ram College, Institute of Home Economics and Netaji Subhash Institute of
Technology.
“It’s humbling to be welcomed back by the University and its students. The feeling is
indescribable. There so much I’ve learnt from this place. It’s time to give back.”

Keeping in view the higher cost of living in Delhi and monetary burden on economically weak students, Akhil Bhartiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP) led Delhi University Student Union (DUSU) announces DUSU Scholarship Programme 2019 for the benefit of the economically weak students of under graduate and post graduate courses.

The guidelines for registering under the DUSU Scholarship Programme 2019 are following:

Applicant must be bonafide and full time student of under graduate or post graduate course.

One applicant can submit only one application.

Out of all the applications received, 250 applicants will be selected and called for interviews (i.e., 5 students for every scholarship to be awarded).

The applicants shall be required to produce the following documents in original with two sets of self-attested photocopies on the date of interview:

Class X Mark-Sheet.

Class XII Mark-Sheet.

Final year or semester Mark-sheet of the graduation for post graduate students.

Aadhar Card.

Income Certificate, not older than 1 year.

Fee Receipt of the last fee paid.

Mark-Sheet of last examination passed in the under graduate or post graduate course (If any).

Identity card of the College or Department.

Maximum amount payable as scholarship to a candidate is Rs. 10,000.

Applicants will be called for the verification of documents on any date prior to 10th of July.

Committee will have the discretionary power for the selection of beneficiaries.

In the case, if two or more students appear to have same marks or income, the rule of first come first serve will be applied for the selection of beneficiaries.

Last date for registration is 31st of July, 2019.
